Japan plans to postpone a major imperial parade celebrating the new emperor's ascension to the throne after nearly 80 people were killed in a devastating typhoon, local media said Thursday.
The parade was scheduled for October 22 as part of a series of events marking the official proclamation of Emperor Naruhito's enthronement. The religious rites and imperial banquet associated with the event are still expected to go ahead, national broadcaster NHK said.

▽UNESCO and Perfumer Guerlain join forces in beekeeper training project

As bee mortality reaches alarming levels worldwide, UNESCO and French perfumer Guerlain will launch a five-year training and support project for beekeepers and their know-how on Thursday 17 October.
The project comes under UNESCO’s partnership with LVMH and UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme and consists of four aspects: the training of beekeepers in biosphere reserves designated by UNESCO, setting up bee farms, provision of technical support and follow up, assessment of the benefits of pollination in local ecosystems.

▽Patrick Day: Boxer dies after suffering traumatic brain injury from KO

Boxer Patrick Day died Wednesday after suffering a traumatic brain injury Saturday night during a bout in Chicago. He was 27.
Day was hospitalized and in "extremely critical condition" Saturday night after he was knocked out by Charles Conwell in the 10th round of their USBA super welterweight title fight. Day was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness.
