David Cameron has spoken out against the Alternative Vote system, as campaigning ahead of the 5 May referendum on electoral reform got under way in earnest.
The prime minister said that "the principle of 'one person, one vote' is what makes our democracy fair" and that AV "completely flies in the face of that".
Mr Cameron is in favour of maintaining the existing first-past-the-post system.

The world is at risk of a return to 1930s-style protectionism that would have ruinous consequences for the global economy, the head of the Bank of England warned last night.
Governor Mervyn King said a repeat of the policies that exacerbated the Great Depression would sow the seeds of the next financial crisis and recession.
