South Korean Deputy Consul General Hong Sung Wok said Asiana Airline officials told him that one person was killed and 20 to 30 people injured in the crash at San Francisco International Airport.

A runaway train carrying crude oil sparked a series of explosions in the small Quebec town of Lac-Megantic, destroying half of the downtown core and killing at least one person. At least 1,000 people were forced to flee their homes in the middle of the night as fireballs engulfed surrounding houses and buildings. The explosions jolted residents awake. Some initially thought that bombs were going off.

Britain launches search for ET | The Sun

A NEW British organisation set up to find intelligent alien life was launched today. Eleven observatories and institutions across the country have linked up to form the UK Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence Research Network. Radio telescopes will listen for alien transmissions such as TV broadcasts and in the future could pick up airport-style radar signals.
