Ministers have welcomed a “green light” for the High Speed 2 rail project after the Court of Appeal on Wednesday dismissed the latest attempt by opponents to block the ￡42.6bn scheme. The appeals had been brought by 15 councils and other campaign groups, including local residents affected by the route, who had asked the judges to order further assessment of the project.
