Croatia's former spy chief, Josip Perkovic, has been extradited to Germany on suspicion of masterminding the murder of a Yugoslav dissident.
He was handed over to the German authorities at Zagreb airport and flown to Munich, reported Croatian state TV.

Zimmerman's painting depicts Jacksonville-based prosecutor Angela Corey holding her thumb and fingers together. An apparently made-up quote added to the piece reads: "I have this much respect for the American judicial system."

A judge has ordered a Texas hospital to remove life support for a pregnant, brain-dead woman who was being kept on a respirator against her family's wishes.
RH Wallace, a district judge in Fort Worth, ruled in the case of Marlise Munoz that the John Peter Smith hospital misapplied a Texas statute that makes it illegal to withdraw life-sustaining treatment from pregnant women. "Mrs Munoz is dead," he declared.

Two people have been jailed for sending abusive messages on Twitter to feminist campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez.
Isabella Sorley, 23, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and John Nimmo, 25, of South Shields, was jailed for eight weeks.
They had pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court to improper use of a communications network.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford lived up his reputation for surprises on Thursday when he got stuck in a hotel lift for nearly an hour while a room full of the city's business elite waited impatiently for him to deliver a speech.
The mishap, which delayed his arrival at an ￡48-a-plate business lunch, comes just two days after a video emerged showing Ford ranting, putting on a Jamaican accent, and using profanities to describe Toronto's police chief. On Tuesday, Ford admitted he had consumed alcohol when the video was shot on Monday night, despite his pledge late last year to quit drinking.
