The immigration minister, Mark Harper, has resigned for employing an illegal immigrant as a cleaner, Downing Street said on Saturday. Number 10 said there was "no suggestion that Mr Harper knowingly employed an illegal immigrant" but the prime minister, David Cameron, had "accepted his resignation with regret".
▽European Officials Denounce US Diplomat's Remark
The head of the European Council says U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland's use of vulgar language about the European Union is "totally unacceptable."
Armed police from the Diplomatic Protection Group are being investigated over suspicions they sent one another extreme pornographic images. Three officers, whose duties included guarding Downing Street, have been arrested on suspicion of “being involved in the possession and distribution of obscene images” using mobile phones.
The Bank of England has been rocked by allegations it turned a blind eye as traders rigged foreign currency rates. Traders at some of the world’s biggest banks have claimed they told officials in 2012 that they routinely shared sensitive information about currency orders from customers with rivals, which could be used to fix their bets.

Woody Allen has repeated his denial that he molested his adopted daughter, in a letter to the New York Times. The filmmaker said Dylan Farrow had been coached to make the claim by his estranged former partner, Mia Farrow.
