Takata Settles Airbag Suit, Averting Testimony by Its Chief - The New York Times

The airbag maker Takata on Friday settled a closely watched lawsuit involving the injury and eventual death of a woman whose car crashed in 2014.
The settlement was announced moments before a critical hearing in which a judge in Jacksonville, Fla., could have ordered the company’s chief executive, Shigehisa Takada, to testify in the case.
Even the lawyer representing the family of the victim, Patricia Mincey, said the sudden turn of events was unexpected.

Japanese, US former officials to advise AIIB - Chinadaily.com.cn

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has appointed two former senior officials from Japan and the United States to its international advisory panel, a source from the bank told China Daily on Thursday.
The US and Japan have declined to join the Beijing-based bank.
Yukio Hatoyama, a former Japanese prime minister, and Paul W. Speltz, former US executive director and ambassador to the Asian Development Bank, will join the panel, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
