Five people have died, including a police officer, and at least 20 people have been injured in a major terror attack outside the Houses of Parliament, the Metropolitan police have confirmed.
The bodies that lay scattered on Westminster Bridge told the horrible, brutal truth. Victims lay in pools of blood on the pavement or else in the road. One person had jumped out of the way - or else been hit so violently hard by a speeding car- and ended up at the bottom of the stone steps that lead from the Embankment up to the bridge.

Foreign Office Minister Tobias Ellwood, who is a former army officer, is believed to have given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a police officer within the grounds of Parliament but later told the BBC that he died at the scene.
