Germany’s Social Democrats (SPD) suffered a humbling blow on Sunday, failing to win the most votes in the state of Bremen for the first time in 73 years, but their leader vowed to stay in government with Angela Merkel’s conservatives.

EU net migration to UK reverses decline, ONS figures show | Financial Times

The Office for National Statistics said net immigration from the bloc rose to 74,000 for the year to December, from 57,000 for the year to September. This was on the back of 201,000 EU citizens moving long-term to the UK, compared to 202,000 for the year ending in September.
The net EU arrival figures are sharply down on a peak of 189,000 for the year to June 2016, when the referendum was held.

Representatives of Venezuela’s government and the opposition will return to Norway for a second round of talks to help resolve their months-long conflict, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
