A petition calling for South Korean President Moon Jae-in to be impeached had gathered more than 217,000 signatures as of Monday, passing a threshold that will require a government response and underscoring Moon’s sagging approval ratings.
The author of the online petition has not been identified but says he or she is a citizen who took part in candlelight protests in 2017 that helped lead to the impeachment and ouster of Moon’s predecessor, Park Geun-hye.

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido on Sunday played down the prospects for success at a new round of mediation with the government to be hosted by Norway next week, saying protests would continue until President Nicolas Maduro resigned.
Norway said on Saturday that representatives of Venezuela’s government and opposition will return to Oslo next week following an initial round of preliminary talks about how to address a long-running political crisis.

Pope Francis likened having an abortion to hiring a "hitman" while speaking at the "Yes to Life" anti-abortion conference in Rome Saturday.
The Pontiff stated that abortion was never acceptable -- not even in instances when fetuses are seriously ill -- and urged doctors to support women to complete all pregnancies.

▽Strike over staff shortage shuts Louvre in Paris

Staff at the Louvre in Paris went on strike Monday, forcing the museum to close and disappointing tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of the Mona Lisa and other masterworks.
The museum said staff were striking on the grounds that their numbers were no longer sufficient to cope with ever increasing visitor numbers.

The French bullfighter, Juan Leal, was lifted off the floor for a few seconds as the bull drove its right horn into his bottom.
Blood covered the back of Mr Leal's torn trousers after the horn went straight through his gluteal region.
The matador carried on despite suffering the painful ten inch (25cm) wound to his rectum and a possible fracture of his sacrum, or sacral spine, and he later killed the bull and posed with its severed ear.
