Hong Kong protests: Thousands surround police headquarters - BBC News

Thousands of people in Hong Kong have surrounded police headquarters, calling for an extradition bill to be scrapped.
Police have asked the protesters to withdraw peacefully, saying their presence would "seriously affect" emergency services... The bill, which allows extradition to mainland China, has already been suspended.

Georgia protests: Thousands storm parliament over Russian MP's speech - BBC News

Some 240 people were hurt in clashes as protesters tried to storm Georgia's parliament after a Russian MP took the speaker's seat in parliament.
Riot police stopped them from entering the building, reportedly using tear gas and rubber bullets.
Anger erupted when Sergei Gavrilov addressed an assembly of MPs from Orthodox Christian countries.
Tensions with Russia are high, 11 years after they fought a war over the breakaway region of South Ossetia.

Carlos Ghosn Loses Last Alliance Seat at Mitsubishi Motors - Bloomberg

Carlos Ghosn lost his last remaining board position at a carmaker, as Mitsubishi Motors Corp. severed ties with the fallen auto tycoon accused of financial misconduct.
The smallest member of the embattled three-way alliance with Nissan Motor Co. and Renault SA dismissed Ghosn, 65, as its chairman after his arrest in November on charges of financial crimes, which he has denied. Osamu Masuko, Mitsubishi Motors’ chief executive officer, stepped in to take over as chairman.

Golden David Beckham statue draws tourists to Buddhist temple - The Straits Times

Pariwat temple, in Bangkok, engraved the Beckham statue two decades ago, when Manchester United made history by being the first English football club to win the treble of trophies.
The statue, built in a traditional garuda style holding up the altar, features Beckham's trademark floppy hairstyle of that era and his team jersey, and continues to attract visitors to this day.
The temple also features a host of other characters in pop culture, with the likes of Wolverine, Superman and Pikachu adorning the exterior of the building. The temple said the superheroes were installed because they are considered good symbols which can help to protect Buddhism.

Fernando Torres retires from football after 18-year career | The Guardian

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has announced his retirement from football.
The 35-year-old Spaniard, who has been playing in Japan for Sagan Tosu since leaving Atlético Madrid last year, scored 81 goals across four seasons with Liverpool and won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup with Chelsea.
