Isoko Mochizuki, a reporter for Tokyo’s largest regional newspaper, walks into a government news conference pulling a burgundy wheeled suitcase that holds her laptop, books and notes. She sits toward the back. After the other journalists politely ask their questions, she pounces... Ms. Mochizuki, 43, has yet to break a major political scandal or expose business-toppling corruption. But she does ask a lot of questions. And that has made her something of a folk hero for press freedom in Japan.

An arctic fox has walked more than 3,500km (2,000 miles) from Norway to Canada in just 76 days, astonishing researchers at the Norwegian Polar Institute.
The animal, known as a coastal or blue fox, was fitted with a tracking device in July 2017. It left Spitsbergen in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago on 26 March 2018. After 21 days and 1,512 km out on the sea ice, it landed in Greenland on 16 April 2018. Its journey continued to Ellesmere Island in Canada, where it arrived on 1 July.
▽Kevin Spacey accuser drops lawsuit against actor
A young man who says Kevin Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 has dropped his lawsuit against the Oscar-winning actor, his lawyer said Friday.
Spacey still faces a criminal charge. He pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and battery in January.
His accuser’s lawyer, Mitchell Garabedian, announced in an email that the suit filed June 26 in Nantucket Superior Court has been voluntarily dismissed. No reason was provided either by Garabedian or in the court filing... According to the court filing, the suit was dismissed “with prejudice,” which means it cannot be refiled.

Washington Wizards first-round draft pick Rui Hachimura competed in his first NBA Summer League game on Saturday, contributing to the team’s 84-79 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at Thomas and Mack Center.
The 21-year-old forward, playing for the first time since his final appearance for Gonzaga University during the NCAA Tournament in March, got off to a shaky start and committed a few miscues in the first half. The rookie from Toyama Prefecture eventually found his footing, scoring 12 of his 14 points in the second half.
