At least 1,200 people have been killed and whole cities flattened after Typhoon Haiyan raced through the Philippines, leaving a trail of destruction that officials have compared to the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami.

Geneva: Nuclear Talks Conclude 'Without A Deal'

French foreign minister Laurent Fabius says talks aimed at reaching a deal with Iran over its nuclear programme, have failed. Western diplomats had earlier warned a deal was looking increasingly unlikely between six world powers and Iran over concerns the country is enriching uranium for use in atomic weapons rather than in a civilian nuclear energy programme, as it claims.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will not attend the Commonwealth Summit to be held next week in Sri Lanka, reported local TV channel Times Now Saturday. The prime minister made the decision after facing stiff opposition to his plan to attend the summit at home over alleged war atrocities of Sri Lankan army in its war against Tamil Tigers, the TV channel quoted unnamed sources as saying.
