▽Turkey raises rates to halt lira’s slide - FT.com

Turkey’s central bank’s moved aggressively on Tuesday to increase interest rates to tackle rising inflation and a sharp fall in the value of the lira.
Despite warnings from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, prime minister, that he would hold the central bank to account for any impact a rate rise would have on growth, the bank more than doubled the benchmark weekly repo rate from 4.5 per cent to 10 per cent and raised the top rate from 7.75 per cent to 12 per cent.

▽Syrian Refugees To Be Taken In By Britain

Britain is to take in some of the most vulnerable refugees from the Syrian civil war, the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has announced.
In a deal struck within Government, refuge will be provided for some of those most traumatised by the crisis, such as vulnerable women or children.

Rovio has denied the report that its popular mobile franchise Angry Birds was utilized as a tool by government spy agencies, including the US National Security Agency and UK's Government Communications Headquarters.
