UN says Yemen 'on verge of total collapse' - Al Jazeera English

UN rights chief has said that Yemen is "on the verge of total collapse" as Saudi-led coalition continues to bomb Houthi positions.
"The situation in Yemen is extremely alarming, with dozens of civilians killed over the past four days," UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said on Tuesday.

Oil Rig Explosion Kills 4 in Gulf of Mexico - ABC News

An explosion and ensuing fire on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico today left four dead and injured at least 16 others, according to the Pemex oil company.
Pemex, a Mexican state-run oil company, said 300 workers have been evacuated after the fire broke out on their Abkatun Permanente platform.

World’s oldest person Misao Okawa dies aged 117 in Japan - FT.com

The number of living people who witnessed the 19th century has dwindled to four, after Misao Okawa, the world’s oldest person, died in Japan at the age of 117.
Okawa passed away early on Wednesday morning at a nursing home in Osaka. She was not terribly impressed by her long life. “It seemed short to me,” she told a local newspaper on her 116th birthday.
