A deal between the Conservatives and the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) includes an extra £1bn in public spending for Northern Ireland... Under the "supply and confidence" arrangement, the DUP guarantees that its 10 MPs will vote with the government on the Queen's Speech, the Budget, and legislation relating to Brexit and national security.

Takata may cost Toyota, Honda billions- Nikkei Asian Review

Toyota said that the total of 570 billion yen ($5.1 billion) in recall-related and other expenses owed by Takata will either be lost or repaid late... Honda also said that most of the money it is owed by Takata -- estimated at 556 billion yen -- will likely not be collected. But like Toyota, the carmaker said the impact on its earnings outlook would be "limited," as the loss had already been factored in.

Uber hires law firm to probe how it handled India rape case - source | Reuters

Uber Technologies Inc has hired a law firm to investigate how it obtained the medical records of an Indian woman who was raped by an Uber driver in 2014. The review will focus in part on accusations from some current and former employees that bribes were involved, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Islamic State blows up historic Mosul mosque where it declared 'caliphate' | Reuters

Islamic State militants on Wednesday blew up the Grand al-Nuri Mosque of Mosul and its famous leaning minaret, Iraq's military said in a statement, as Iraqi forces seeking to expel the group from the city closed in on the site.
It was from this medieval mosque three years ago that the militants' leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared a self-styled "caliphate" spanning parts of Syria and Iraq.

Taiwan reaffirms desire to join TPP | FOCUS TAIWAN
