South Korea to remove Japan from preferred trade list - Japan Today

South Korea said Monday that it has decided to remove Japan from a list of nations receiving preferential treatment in trade in what was seen as a tit-for-tat move following Tokyo's recent decision to downgrade Seoul's trade status amid a diplomatic row.
It wasn't immediately clear how South Korea's tightened export controls would impact bilateral trade. Seoul said some South Korean companies exporting to Japan will be able to receive exceptions from case-by-case inspections that are normally applied on sensitive shipments to nations with lower trade status and go through the same fast-track approval process that they currently enjoy.

Anti-NHK party leader vows to continue protests against celebrity for 'ridiculing voters' - The Mainichi

The leader of a political party critical of public broadcaster NHK said he will continue his protest over celebrity Matsuko Deluxe's comments in a commercial TV program, which he says ridiculed people who voted for the party... In the program called "Goji ni Muchu," Matsuko last month called members of the political party "sickening people" and said, "I think there are a considerable number of people who voted for the party as a joke."
Tachibana reacted sharply to the celebrity's comment. He staged a protest in front of a studio at the TV station when the program was being aired live on Aug. 12 and said, "Don't ridicule voters." He was joined by his supporters who gathered at the scene, leading to a standoff with police officers.
At a news conference, Tachibana explained his criticism is directed at Tokyo MX rather than the celebrity.

Moscow Passenger Plane Makes 'Miraculous' Crash-Landing in Cornfield - The Moscow Times

A Russian passenger plane's emergency landing in a cornfield near Moscow after birds were sucked into its engines has been hailed by state media as a "miracle" and compared to a 2009 U.S. flight's landing after striking a flock of geese.
Russians have said it was a miracle that no one was killed when the Ural Airlines Airbus 321 came down in a field southeast of Moscow with its landing gear up after hitting a passing flock of gulls, disrupting the plane's engines. The plane was traveling from Moscow to Crimea's Simferopol with 234 people on board.

Nasty New Malware Waits Until You Visit A Porn Site, Then Starts Recording

At the end of last week, ESET's security researchers disclosed the discovery of a new strain of malware that takes the trend for sextortion to a new level. Varenyky, as the malware was named by its finders, monitors the activity on infected computers, watching until a pornographic website is visited, and then starts recording the screen.
According to the ESET team, Varenyky first came to light in May, when a malware spike was identified in France. And this is the other twist with Varenyky-it has been designed to specifically target French computer users. For now.
Varenyky is aimed at Orange customers in France, sending out fake invoices as Microsoft Word attachments to load the malware.
