Hurricane Dorian damage in Bahamas estimated at $7B, recovery efforts underway | Fox Business

Early estimates are saying Hurricane Dorian caused $7 billion worth of damage in the Bahamas. Catastrophe modeling business Karen Clark & Company released the estimate after analyzing wind and water damage that it said caused “catastrophic” losses. The estimate didn’t include costs of damage to infrastructure or autos.
Dorian was a Category 5 hurricane when it hit the Bahamas Sunday. The storm’s forward momentum dropped after it made landfall on Abaco Island, and then it stalled for a time over Grand Bahama Island. The storm spent more than 24 hours pounding the Bahamas, with record wind speeds of 185 mph and reported storm surge of 20 feet on some islands.

North Korean foreign minister will not attend U.N. gathering of world leaders:The Asahi Shimbun

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho will not attend the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations later this month "due to his schedule," the country's mission to the U.N. told Reuters on Wednesday.
Ri has attended the high-level meeting of the U.N. General Assembly in New York for the past three years. North Korea was initially listed on a tentative speaking schedule - dated July 10 - to again be represented at ministerial level, but a revised agenda issued on Friday downgraded Pyongyang's representation.
North Korea's U.N. Ambassador Kim Song is now expected to address the 193-member world body on Sept. 30, the second last speaker for the week-long gathering.

Ministry says Recruit Career acted illegally in Rikunabi data scandal and demands corrective steps | The Japan Times

The labor ministry said Friday it had issued administrative guidance to Recruit Career Co. for selling to its clients web browsing data predicting the odds of job-hunting students declining informal job offers, without the students’ consent.
The ministry determined that selling the data violated the employment security law. The guidance was issued through the Tokyo Labor Bureau.

Iran on Wednesday said it would take another step away from a 2015 nuclear deal by starting to develop centrifuges to speed up its uranium enrichment but it also gave European powers two more months to try to save the multilateral pact.

A woman aged 73 has reportedly given birth to twin girls in eastern India.
Doctors in the east Indian state of Andhra Pradesh have claimed the woman’s age makes her the world’s oldest ever to give birth after they reportedly delivered the twins by caesarean section on Thursday, following successful IVF treatment.
