Sky is launching a new 'Brexit-free' TV news channel - Manchester Evening News

The pop up channel will be on air from tomorrow and will cover all aspects of the news - except Britain's impending departure from the European Union.
A recent study suggested that a third of people in the UK are avoiding the news entirely and more than 70 per cent of them blamed the political debate surrounding Brexit, according to Sky News.
The main Sky News channel will continue to cover Brexit, bosses say, but the additional channel will allow the public to "apply a filter" to the headlines they see.

14 police officers killed in an ambush in Mexico, testing president's security strategy - The San Diego Union-Tribune

A police convoy was passing through a small town in western Mexico on Monday morning when bullets began to fly. It was an ambush by one of Mexico’s most violent criminal groups.
In a matter of minutes, 14 police officers were killed and several of their vehicles set on fire. Handwritten messages left at the scene were signed “CJNG” - short for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel - and accused the police of working with rival groups.
The assault in El Aguaje in the state of Michoacan was the latest in a series of spectacular high-casualty attacks attributed to the cartel, one of Mexico’s most ascendant and audacious criminal organizations.

A state trooper pulled a man from his car seconds before it was hit by a train - CNN

With only seconds to go before a train barreled through, a Utah state trooper pulled an unconscious driver from his car after it got stuck on the tracks.
Trooper Ruben Correa, who has been with the Utah Highway Patrol for two years, was responding to a routine traffic stop when he got a call from dispatch about a car on train tracks not far from him, according to Sgt. Nick Street, the spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was unconscious, and a medical issue contributed to him driving off the nearby highway and onto the tracks, said Street.

Storm Warning In Effect As Former Typhoon Brings Strong Winds To Aleutian Region | KUCB

After causing extensive flooding and record rainfall in Japan, former typhoon Hagibis is generating strong winds and stormy weather across the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands.
The National Weather Service has clocked high winds above 50 miles per hour around the region. Forecasters have also issued a storm warming for much of coastal southwest Alaska, including Unalaska Bay.
