China likely to deploy third aircraft carrier by 2025: report - Nikkei Asia

China is expected to put a third and more advanced aircraft carrier into service by 2025 as the country seeks to modernize its military under its next five-year plan... The U.S. has 11 aircraft carriers deployed around the world.
The new carrier is likely part of the Communist Party's five-year plan through 2025 hammered out in October, the Global Times said, citing military analysts.

Ship owner says Mauritius oil cleanup mostly over by January | The Japan Times

Cleanup efforts to remove the oil spilled by a Japanese freighter that ran aground off Mauritius earlier this year will be mostly completed by January, the ship’s owner said Thursday.
The Panama-flagged bulk carrier Wakashio, owned by Nagashiki Shipping Co., ran aground off the southeast coast of Mauritius on July 25. More than 1,000 tons of oil began leaking from the vessel into the pristine environment on Aug. 6.

Nintendo’s latest figures make it even clearer: the Nintendo Switch has hit the 68 million mark sold since its launch in 2013, a mark that leaves it triple the sales of its predecessor, the Wii U.
In the last fiscal quarter, ended September 30, 6.85 million new units were sold, including the hybrid model and the Lite laptop. A considerable amount, which helps the Japanese company to predict that in the next quarter it will exceed the total number of sales of the Nintendo 3DS, which closed its life cycle of 75.94 million.

The transport ministry on Nov. 4 approved allowing taxi drivers to refuse service to a customer not wearing a mask without good reason.
Ten taxi companies in Tokyo applied to the ministry in late August to change the set of rules as a safeguard against the novel coronavirus.

There are charges that nearly 60 people arrested during a raucous Geenwich Village protest were outside agitators who tried to “hijack” a peaceful protest. Demonstrators were demanding every vote in the election be counted.
CBS2’s cameras were the only ones there when NYPD brass walked out of City Hall on Thursday after a meeting with Mayor Bill de Blasio about the post-election protest in Washington Square Park that turned ugly.
